Hours of Service Training Module 5: ELD Basics

The Hours of Service Training: ELD Basics course is designed to help drivers compliantly use ELDs and correctly use the special driving categories of personal conveyance and yard move. This will help drivers understand their role in reducing unassigned driving events, when to edit the record, and the importance of reviewing the record before submission.

After completing this course, drivers will be able to:

• Discuss when drivers are required to use an ELD
• Identify the five items required to be in the cab when recording hours with an ELD
• Describe how drivers can reduce unassigned drive time
• Explain the process to follow when their ELD malfunctions
• Differentiate between coercion and harassment

This online Hours of Service: ELD Basics course covers the following topics:

Approximately 20 minutes

Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to pass this course. The course is able to be taken three times in efforts to achieve the pass mark. Printable resources are available in the form of a comprehensive student manual. The manual is a valuable resource for future use and knowledge retention.

Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
