Respirable Silica Best Practices
Working around known sources of silica dust presents dangers to your health. To protect yourself, specific personal protective equipment, best practices, and strategies must be used. This course walks you through these requirements for respirable silica.
Information relating to respirable silica will be presented in four chapters:
- Chapter 1: Defining Asbestos
- Chapter 2: Health Hazards
- Chapter 3: Establishing a Safe Workplace
- Chapter 4: Employer and Employee Responsibilities
Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.
In today’s training, we’ll discuss the various methods, controls, and equipment used to protect yourself against these dangerous particles in the workplace. By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Define silica and where respirable versions of this mineral may be found
- Recognize the health impacts of exposure to these particles
- Identify engineering and administrative controls used to protect you against respirable silica dust
- Understand what PPE is required
- Explain procedures in the event of over exposure
Approximately 40 minutes
A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion for this online Respirable Silica training course. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
