Rigging (Basic)
This online Basic Rigging course includes 3 modules that cover the practices and techniques for safe slinging and rigging of loads. The material in this training course is designed for rigging personnel who work with all types of hoisting equipment.
Basic Rigging Course Standards
This course was designed to help satisfy requirements of the following standards:
- CSA Z150-98
It also adheres to ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards.
This content developer is recognized by the International Competency Assessment Board (I-CAB) for its expertise in this subject matter and is listed as a competency development resource for I-CAB assessments.
This online Basic Rigging course covers the following topics:
- Pre-lift hazard assessments
- Owner, operator, and supervisor responsibilities
- Safety factors and safe working load limits
- Rope and sling inspections
- Types of rigging hitches
- Determining sling types, sizes, and configurations using sling capacity charts
- D/d ratios
- Sling centre of gravity
- Crane and hoist signals
Approximately 2 hours
A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to pass this course. The course is able to be taken three times in efforts to achieve the pass mark.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
