Description
Safe and Smart New Driver Training Program: Defensive Driving: Night Driving
This course is designed to help CMV drivers learn how to improve their safety while driving at night.
Driving at night can introduce additional challenges to your job that already requires a lot of attention. Low light makes it harder to see what’s around the vehicle. Potential hazards can be difficult to recognize at night, and once you spot the hazard, it decreases your response time.
There are three major factors requiring focus when driving at night: the vehicle; the road; and the driver. Learning the challenges that come with each factor, and how to deal with them, will keep drivers safe on the road.
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
- Discuss the factors that affect safe night operation as they relate to your vehicle, the road, and you, the driver
- Explain procedures that can help make driving at night safer
