Validity of certifications

  • At least 3 courses delivered each year, if not, updating session is required

Prerequisite

  • Current Fall Protection certification
  • Ability to operate the equipment
  • Ability to train others

Equipment for the practical training

  • This training is geared towards employers utilizing equipment for construction activities.  Practical training will be provided at the employer work place utilizing equipment in place
  • Equipment for the practical training needs to be supplied.  Equipment must be in safe working order and to pass pre-job inspection.  When equipment, due to unsafe conditions cannot be used, another needs to be available, or another practical training session to be organized.  It may cause additional expense for training.

Completion

  • 100% attendance, successful accomplishment of classroom and practical component

Class Size

  • Minimum 2, Maximum 4

Course Duration

  • 3 hours session at least 7 days before train the trainer training to discuss with participants content of the course and to distribute training materials to participants allowing them to prepare for the course
  • 2-3 days of classroom training – depending on participants ability to learn and deliver training
  • Practical components 1day in-field, hands-on training
    •  Demonstration of pre-job inspection, full movement range inspection and training workers on operation of the equipment
    • Students will provide training to other members on pre-job inspection, full movement range inspection and training workers on operation of the equipment

 

In-Class training content:

  • Introduction
  • Approach to training
  • Qualifications of the equipment operators
  • Operator training requirements
  • Students will deliver training to others to the level of competency in delivering the training

 

In-field, hands on training – students will learn proper deliver of the training to others.  Some of the elements covered in the practical part of the course:

  • In-field hazard assessment
  • Ground conditions (walk the walk)
  • Walk around
  • Controls
    • Ground Controls
    • Basket controls
    • Emergency procedures
  • Full movement range inspection
  • Driving
  • Operation of components
  • Practical exercise
