Corrective Action Training: 30-Minute Breaks
This Corrective Action Training module provides drivers with remedial training related to 30-minute breaks. Specifically, this course is designed to remind drivers of the hours-of-service 30-minute break rule to prevent violations and fatigue-related crashes.
After completing this course, drivers will be able to:
- Discuss the physical effects that impact your safety if you work too long without a break.
- Explain the Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) 30-minute break rule.
- Identify the consequences of not taking the required breaks.
- Introduction
- Stress & fatigue decrease safety
- Stop driving after 8 consecutive hours
- Eight hours of work equals a 30-minute break.
- Take a break.
- Suddenly don’t qualify for exemption? Follow the break rule.
- Avoid crashes and fines.
- Do your part for highway safety.

Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
