Corrective Action Training: Electronic Logging Devices
This Corrective Action Training module provides drivers with remedial training related to electronic logging devices (ELDs). Specifically, this course is designed to remind drivers to keep the required ELD instructions on-hand, carry a spare device or paper logs, and properly mount their portable ELD.
After completing this course, drivers will be able to:
- Recognize the types of electronic logging device (ELD) instructions required to be in your vehicle.
- List the items you must carry and use in the event your ELD malfunctions.
- Identify how a portable ELD must be carried while driving.

- Always carry supporting materials.
- You need three types of instructions for the ELD.
- Have instructions available to show an inspector.
- Have blank paper logs on hand.
- Switch to paper logs in your ELD malfunctions.
- An ELD must be repaired within eight days.
- You can also use a digital device, if compliant.
- Your ELD must be mounted when you’re driving.
- Make sure it’s visible from the driver’s seat.

Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
