This online Food Safety Basics course covers the importance of food safety and the preventive measures to help keep people safe from food-borne illness.
The Public Health Agency of Canada estimates that there are between 11 and 13 million cases of food-borne illness each year in Canada. Many of these illnesses can be prevented if people follow the safe food handling practices explained in this course.

Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
