Description
CRITICALITY SAFETY COURSE OVERVIEW
Historically, nuclear criticality accidents have proven disastrous. An uncontrolled criticality instantly releases large amounts of radiation that are often fatal to those within a few feet of it.
In the wake of high-profile, fatal events around the world, regulations, training, and procedural safeguards have all intensified. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Recognize fissionable material labels and the hazards associated with improper handling of containers holding fissionable material
- Identify the correct actions for minimizing the risk of being exposed to an accidental criticality
- Identify the correct actions for minimizing radiation exposure in the event of an accidental criticality
